Home | Teaching | Research | Papers | Supervision | Positions Francesco Corona is a professor (associate) of Process Control and Automation at the Aalto University (Finland) with the Department of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering (School of Chemical Engineering) and a docent of Information and Computer Science at the Department of Computer Science (School of Science) at the same university. Earlier he was professor (adjunto) of Machine Learning and Logic with the Department of Computer Science at the Federal University of Ceará (Brazil). Francesco joined the Aalto University/Helsinki University of Technology as a post-doctoral researcher in January 2007, in 2009 he was appointed the docentship in Industrial applications of Machine Learning and in 2014 the docentship in Information and Computer Science. In 2016 he was appointed the professorship in Machine Learning and Logic at the Federal University of Ceará and in 2019 he was appointed the professorship in Process Automation and Control at the Aalto University. Francesco's interest concentrate on automatic control and optimisation, probabilistic modelling, and information visualisation: Practical emphasis is currently on applications to full-scale environmental and industrial process systems. Francesco is member of IFAC, the International Federation of Automatic Control (since 2007). In IFAC, he is member of the Technical Commitee 8.4 on Biosystems and Bioprocesses (since 2011) where he serves as chair for industry (since 2017). He is member of the IFAC Industry Committee (since 2018). Francesco is member of the Nordic Process Control working group (since 2019), in which he serves as chair for the period 2023-2025. He contributes to the Task Group on Data Collection and Organization MetaCO (since 2019) of IWA, the International Water Association. March 2024. |
